This course will address a frustration that a growing number of personal trainers face when working with clients interested in weight loss, “weight loss resistance”.  Weight loss resistance refers to the physiology of those clients who struggle to lose weight even when putting forth a good effort of training and nutritional choices. Dr. Matt Lewis an expert in functional medicine will provide a review of the primary causes and nutritional strategies for addressing “weight loss resistance.” AAPTE 2.5 CEC’s

Overweight and obesity is endemic in our population. As a personal trainer you may have felt the frustration of clients that have been misguided by nutritional myths, misconceptions, fads and nutritional quackery. Understanding physiological weight loss barriers can help you provide options that are sensible, ethical and practical, which will assist your clients in achieving beneficial results. 2.5 CEC’s

Objectives:

  • Identify clients who have true "weight loss resistance."
  • Understand two common weight loss barriers; food sensitivities and blood sugar imbalances and their contribution to weight loss resistance.
  • Explain the physiological role of gluten and dairy in weight loss resistance.

Participants will be able to:
Utilize practical, first line nutritional strategies to address weight loss resistance in a safe and effective manner.
