The musculoskeletal system is the foundation of human body and during a lifetime it may be vulnerable to pathological and traumatic injury and dysfunction. Injuries that can lead to dysfunction include; fractures, sprains, strains, repetitive actions of daily function which can lead to tissue stresses, inflammation and degenerative joint processes.
Through a thorough discussion students will review fundamental anatomy, joint function - normal and abnormal perspectives, with an emphasis on how acute and chronic stresses can cause pain, trauma and pathology, which lead to dysfunction and mechanical deviations. Conditions addressed include; rotator cuff disorder (impingement syndrome), degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis), shoulder instability, tendonitis, and bursitis.
